Update on Kahlai

The good news is that today Kahlai and his mom and dad get to go home! They have been at PCH for a week and are all ready to be back in their surroundings. They saw the epileptologist today (specialist in epilepsy). He went through 22 hours of footage that Kahlai was monitored with and he told Angelique and Kevin that his diagnoses is Dooze's disease. I googled this and nothing came up so I may have to check my spelling. I wanted to link a description to the disease. This disease is the reason for the seizures and commonly occurs at around age 3. Basically, while being treated with medication, he continues to have seizures. He also has these moments called drop periods where he literally drops down from a standing or sitting posture. The Dr. said if they can't get those under control he will have to wear a helmet, for his safety obviously. He does not have any long periods of normal brain activity (without a seizure). It's all very hard to understand because we don't know if some of his abnormal behavior is due to the Dooze's or if it's a side effect to the medication. There are so many unanswered questions right now. Please continue to pray for wisdom and guidance from the Lord while Angelique and Kevin parent this precious boy. They are encouraged by all of you and feel very loved and cared for.
